Setting up exercises and workouts will be one of the main functions used by your trainers in the My PT application. A Workout is simply a collection of Exercises. Before creating workouts, your trainers should create any custom exercises that they will need, though the built-in exercises found in the application should suffice in most cases.
Custom Exercises
To begin creating a new custom exercise:
- Select Exercises from the app drawer
- The Exercises tab is where you will find all built-in exercises. Select the Custom Exercises tab to begin creating a custom exercise
- Select Create Custom Exercise. Give the exercise a name, select the category, add a description, and fill in the Exercise Breakdown details
- You can also optionally add a video and/or image for the exercise. These should be used to demonstrate how to do the exercise. Once everything has been filled in, select Save Exercise
The new custom exercise will now appear in the custom exercises list. You can adjust or remove an exercise at any time by using the menu icon found on the right-hand side of the exercise.
Adding Workouts
Once you've created any custom exercises that will be needed, you can begin setting up workouts that your members can be added to. Each workout will consist of a collection of exercises. To begin setting up a workout:
- Select Workouts from the app drawer
- Workouts are added to your account in the My PT app, then they are assigned to your members as needed. When it comes to adding workouts to your account, you can either use the categories along the top to add premade workouts, or you can build your own by selecting Create Workout
- When creating a new workout, you will first need to enter the workout's name, then select if you would like to use a pre-existing workout as a template. Once these are set, click Create
NOTE: Selecting Use existing workout? will only pull a list from any workouts that have already been added to your account - Next, you will need to add exercises to the workout. These can be either pre-made exercises or exercises you have made yourself following the instructions from the previous section. Start by selecting Add Exercise
- Search through the list to find the exercise(s) that you need. Use the checkboxes to select multiple exercises for the workout. You can also use the Filter to filter the exercises shown. Lastly, use the Create New tab to create a brand new exercise from within the workout. This is the same as creating an exercise in the Exercise app.
- Once you have selected all the exercises that you need for the workout, select Add Exercises to Workout then Save Changes from the bottom of the page
The new workout will appear in the main list of workouts along with any other created or pre-made workouts.
Selecting the workout will allow you to view the Plan and Details of the workout. Here, you can add, adjust, and remove sets from exercises and adjust the workout's description, image, and more.
Assigning Workouts to Clients
Once you have your exercises and workouts set up, you can begin to assign workouts to your members. These will appear on the member's version of the My PT app. To assign a workout:
- From the Workouts page, select the menu for the workout you are assigning and select Assign to Clients
- Select the correct member(s) from the list, then click Save
